I love this movie. Whatever happened to the actress who plays Jovi in this movie? She is so beautiful and has a great singing voice. Will Ferrell is so great. A lot of people like to play the “I just don’t like Will Ferrell card” so for all you people, this is for you:
Stop being a hater. You are claiming to dislike the guy just to get a mild look of surprise out of people and make yourself seem alternative and edgy. There is nothing to dislike about Will Ferrell. He is hilarious and brings joy to the world. He is like Christmas. He is quite simply a very talented clown. Stop being a hater, all you Will Ferrell scrooges.
I dislike Will Ferrell…except in this movie. I’ve seen it a few times and it always makes me happy. So for this movie, I turn in my hater card…but I get it back when the credits roll.
My whole family just re-watched this tonight, at my request. I’m not quite a hater, but I do find Will Ferrell to be overrated in most things… except this! He is just perfect as Buddy the Elf, and I hope to rewatch it every year. I’d forgotten how freakin’ hilarious it is when he tries to put the star on top of the tree – my brother almost fell out of his chair!
Smiling is my favorite!
PS – That actress is Zooey Deschanel. She’s still around – was just in that Sci-Fi Network show “Tin Man.” She usually has jet black hair though, so maybe you’ve missed her. Her singing voice is surprisingly awesome.

and it is a testament to this charming film that both stef and scott don’t like ferrell but they like this movie. it is adorable! and yes i love when he jumps off the sofa–priceless clowning.
