Cautionary Tales for Adults and the Many Adventures of Trixie Tickles July 23, 2007

It’s so rare that you see good new musical theatre. I mean, lots of people love that Adam Guettel and that Jason Robert Brown and that Frank Wildhorn, but those guys are all so… emotional, so cornball, so lite-pop, so cheese-tastic, so, how do i say this delicately… so crappy. Whereas Shawn Northrip is hard-nosed, satyrical fun! No moving ballads here, just hilarious songs with a sophomoric irreverence. Last year’s Lunch was the best show I saw at the first Cap Fringe, and this year doesn’t disappoint either.
Silly, teenage fun which resonated with the entire (widely diverse) audience the night i saw it.
