SerpicoThis is a great film, and hugely evocative of the 1970’s. Favorite scenes include when Serpico goes to ABT, then reads Isadora Duncan’s autobiography, then starts doing ballet in the police station. Only criticism is that towards the end it gets mired in the back-and-forth plotting of the detective genre, making it more of a genre film and less of a simply great film. I think this is why it is perhaps not remembered on the same level as Dog Day Afternoon or The Godfather. Those fims are genre films as well, but for some reason or another they transcend the genre a bit more. I digress. Great film.
